Climate Change, Climate Justice

As an enormous body of research makes explicitly clear, people of color, women, and especially the poor will bear the brunt of the catastrophic effects of climate change globally.  Climate change is without doubt the biggest social justice issue of this century as it is estimated that many millions of people, primarily in poor countries, are likely to face displacement, disease, war and death as a result of climate change caused primarily by rich Western countries.

Mission Statement

The Tufts University Climate Change, Climate Justice Initiative aims to connect environmental movements to social justice movements.  We support climate change and climate justice education, research, and activism on local, national, and global levels.  We bring groups within and outside of the university together in order to address local and global community needs.  Moreover, we aspire to incorporate a social justice lens into climate change initiatives throughout the university, as well as to increase the diversity of those who are at the table in climate change research, policy making, and activism.
