Travel Grants

Update, June 2009: Due to budget restrictions, TIE has suspended the travel grant program until further notice. 

TIE provides awards to offset transportation costs and conference registration fees for Tufts faculty, staff, and students who are making presentations at environmental conferences, meetings, and workshops. Please note that travel awards are not given to support an individual’s field research or internship. Individuals interested in applying for a travel grant should consult the criteria and guidelines below.

TIE travel funding for any individual applicant may not exceed $1,000 over two years.

Guidelines

1. TIE travel funds are only available to support travel to conferences and workshops that address environment and/or sustainability. These funds are not available for travel for any other purpose.

2. TIE funding will only pay for transportation and conference registration costs.

3. Funding will only be provided for those participating in the conference or workshop as a presenter or panelist.

4. Preference will be given to those attending conferences and workshops in the following areas:

- Water
- Energy and Climate
- Health and the Environment

5. Available funding will be divided between the two semesters. If there is any funding left over, it will be available for travel to conferences during the summer months.

6. Funding is available up to the following amounts:
(Funding for any individual applicant may not exceed $1,000 over two years.)

- Northeast coast US              $200
- Rest of US & Canada           $500
- Europe and Latin America     $750
- Asia and Africa                    $1000
