This Spring semester has been a busy one here at TIE.  We’ve hosted speakers, a book signing, sponsored symposia, and environmental activity across the three campuses of Tufts and beyond.  Here’s a quick look back at our activities:

  • Hosted Marcus Lange from University College Cork and the UMASS Boston Coasts and Community with IGERT students for research discussion and networking luncheon on Water and Security.
  • Supported Environmental Studies Lunch and Learn events, including one on “The african elephant poaching crisis.”
  • WSSS Students attended and presented at MIT Water Night
  • TIE Director Antje Danielson presented a workshop to Research-track WSSS Students

on using a systems thinking approach to help conceptualize their research topics.

  • On World Water Day, TIE tabled at the BeCause Water World Water Day event, and several TIE and WSSS students attended, and networked with groups from Earthwatch, Initative:Eau, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the EPA, Water for Good, the New England Water Innovation Network (NEWIN) and many more.

That’s just a snapshot of the events we put on this spring.  Across the university, students and faculty are producing wonderful environmental research sponsored by our TIE and WSSS Fellowships, or made possible by the connections they’ve found in our programs.  Our P-track WSSS Students also completed their practica on the Bahamas, the Malden River, and Cape Cod.  Be sure to check out the amazing Green Infrastructure Guide website developed by the Cape Cod group.
