Experience

Berit Stimmler-Beckner is a Master’s student in the Sustainable Water Management (SWM) program, hosted by TIE. She expects to complete her M.S. in August 2020.

Prior to starting the SWM program at Tufts, Berit earned a B.A in International Studies and French, and studied abroad in Paris, France. As an undergraduate student, she took classes on water and wrote multiple research papers on the topic of water scarcity and sustainability.

Current Studies and Future Goals

Berit found exactly what she was looking for in the SWM program to further her knowledge around the issue of water and to pursue a career in water diplomacy. She says, “water is the most essential natural resource. Once I became fully aware of the scope of water scarcity issues and the amount of people in the world who lack access to clean drinking water and sanitation, it became very evident that this was the field of study in which I was the most passionate and could make a positive impact.”

After Tufts, Berit would like to work in water diplomacy in order to find new and creative ways to promote sustainability and alleviate water scarcity.
