TUFTS ENVIRONMENTAL ALUMNI FALL HIKE: EXPLORING SPECTACLE ISLAND
Saturday, October 5th 10:15am to 2:30pm
Meet at 10:15am at the The Boston Harbor Islands Ferry Terminal at Long Wharf, Boston
Please join us on Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands, on October 5th for our annual fall hike. Spectacle Island has a fascinating history that includes farming, a quarantine hospital, a glue factory, resort hotels, a garbage dump, and the landfill for excavated materials from the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project. Now a public park, the island is a remarkable example of a successful environmental restoration. We’ll enjoy scenic views of Boston, lovely hiking trails, and the companionship of noted Tufts Environmental Alum Phil Griffiths, recently named President of the Boston Harbor Island Alliance. Sandwiches are provided (with vegetarian options) but please bring your own snacks and drinks.
