Experience

Haddush G. Gebremedhin is a Master’s student in the Sustainable Water Management (SWM) program, hosted by TIE. He expects to complete his M.S. in August 2020.

Prior to enrolling at Tufts, Haddush earned his B.S in Soil and Water Engineering & Management at Haramaya University and his M.S in Engineering at UNESCO-IGE Institute for Water Education. Throughout his professional career, he has conducted research in the water and environmental sector in Ethiopia, focusing on water resources development and management strategies for sustainable agriculture.

Haddush is also a Rotaract, Rotarian, President (2019/20), and founder of the Rotary Club of Aksum and a lifetime member of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society.

Current Studies and Future Goals

As Haddush says, “water connects everything, including people.” With that in mind, the SWM program was of particular interest to him because of its global focus. “Students work on real-world case studies as well as simulations, and international students bring and share their global experiences and networks.”

Haddush says his life purpose is to contribute something relevant to his generation and feels the knowledge and skills gained from the SWM program will enable him to deliver the best community service and leadership he can.

Haddush enjoys volunteering for community service projects, participating in sports, watching documentary films, and listening to music.
